Adam Kimble is an ultramarathoner from Minooka, IL, currently residing in Tahoe Vista, CA. He is married to his high-school sweetheart, Karen, and they have a 3-year-old chocolate lab named Sofi. Adam played Division-I baseball at Bradley University prior to beginning his running career, and following graduation ran his first ever race (5km) near his hometown in the summer of 2009. It resulted in very bad cramps and a lot of pain, but fortunately it also came with a second-place age group finish! Once the pain subsided, Adam decided his racing days weren’t done and completed his first half marathon in 2011. A half marathon led to the Chicago Marathon in 2012, and his first ultramarathon (50k) in 2014. With each and every race, the question became “what else is my body capable of?” Following three top-three finishes in 100-mile races, a 60-day transcontinental crossing of the USA, and 60 days alone in the wilderness on Discovery Channel’s The Wheel, the limits are nowhere close to being reached.
What’s your spirit animal?
The sloth. When I was on Discovery Channel’s survival reality show, The Wheel, I met a sloth in the Amazon and took a #slothselfie* with him! It was epic. Sloths are forever my spirit animal.
If you could be a superhero, who would you be and why?
I have to go with Superman. His physical strength (which bodes well for running ultramarathons) and his love for humanity are what sets him apart in my book.
What is your favorite band OR who is your favorite artist?
I’m a huge Florence and the Machine fan. I saw her perform at Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE, and she’s incredible live. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen!
Pizza and an amber ale. Absolute favorite pizza place is a local place near my hometown, called Cemeno’s Pizza.
Successfully completing 60 days and conquering Discovery Channel’s The Wheel. I took on the challenge to honor my childhood friend, Mark, who was battling stage four brain cancer. Completing the journey felt like a win for our entire community.
Anything funky you want to share with everyone
In 2008, I won the Showcase Showdown on The Price is Right!
